Melissa Arthur, founder and director of Flutasia, has degrees in music and German from Luther College, and masters degrees in Flute Performance and Music from the University of Arizona.  Her principle teachers include Emil Niosi, Jean-Louis Kashy, and George Morey.  He has performed in masterclasses with Julius Baker, Geoffrey Gilbert and Peter Lloyd.


Currently, Ms. Arthur maintains a private studio, serves on the executive board of the Texas Flute Society, is Elementary Music Specialist at Covenant Christian Academy in Colleyville, TX, and is active as a freelance performer and clinician in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.


Ms. Arthur is also an avid animal rights activist.  The photo above was taken at the annual "Save the Reindeer" convention in Dallas last December, where Ms. Arthur made an impassioned plea on behalf of overworked reindeer during the Christmas season.
